SoberMate Privacy Policy

Overview

SoberMate is a personal sobriety tracking app. Your privacy is fundamental to our design. All personal data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Information We Store

SoberMate stores the following data locally on your device:

Sobriety tracking records (substance type, start dates, notes)
Journal entries and mood logs
Achievement and milestone progress
Emergency contact information you provide
App preferences and settings
Optional: your name and a motivation photo

This data is NOT transmitted off your device. It is stored using on-device storage protected by iOS device encryption.

Data We Do NOT Collect

SoberMate does not collect, transmit, or have access to:

Your identity or account information (no sign-up required)
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Location data
Usage analytics or behavioural data
Any data from other apps on your device

We use no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Notifications

If you enable daily motivation notifications, these are scheduled locally on your device using iOS local notifications. No push notification tokens are sent to any server.

Photos

If you add a motivation picture, the selected photo is stored locally within the app. We do not access your full photo library or upload images anywhere.

Contacts

If you choose to add emergency contacts from your device address book, only the contact information you select is stored locally within the app. We do not access or upload your full contact list.

Your Rights & Data Control

You have full control over your data:

Export all your data at any time (Settings > Export My Data)
Delete all your data from within the app (Settings > Reset All Data)
Uninstalling the app removes all stored data from your device

Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.

Children's Privacy

SoberMate is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 17.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
